The Corner of Robinson St. and Main St. 36

Community Markham
The Corner of Robinson St. and Main St.
On the north east corner, behind the row of stores you can still see a house. The window where the air conditioner is located was the telephone exchange. Elizabeth Williamson operated the central and Jerry Rose was the office manager.(They truly knew what was going on in Markham) On the west side is the lane to the Robinson farm. Situated on the bank of the river in the valley was The Maple Leaf Woolen Mill, an abattoir and a bell foundry. The Franklin Hotel stood on the south west corner, where the parking lot is today.
